.: HOLDING FIXTURES (Practice Lock Stands)
It is important to have a means
of holding your practice locks while you practice with them. While
it is certainly possible to use a common bench vise, or even tape
a cylinder to a surface using duct tape or packaging tape, much
more freedom of movement and consistent results will come from acquiring
a good holding fixture. Some of our Kits already come with stands,
but if you haven't purchased such a kit you would be well advised
to make a selection from one of the following.
PikStation
Supreme Edition
|
The PikStation Supreme Edition is the top of the
line, no question about it. This awesome stand does it all,
in terms of positioning and holding your practice locks.
The stand features a Deluxe Adjustable TriPik as the
practice lock holding fixture, or 'head'. It has threaded
adjusting screws in each of its three slots, allowing you to firmly
tighten any key in knob practice lock. The center slot has a
widened opening, perfect for better viewing of cut-away practice locks.
The TriPik head can be locked into any position through
360-degrees, and can further be adjusted vertically by sliding it
along the 18-inch steel post. The TriPik, its attached ball
and socket joint, and the locking block are all made of durable, tough
PVC . . . while the base and the vertical post are steel. As with
all other PikStation models, the PikStation Supreme Edition features
two plastic storage bins, one in front with a hinged lid and a wide bin
in the rear for your pick set.
The photo at the left shows accessory items that are
not included with the stand.

Our most popular locking picking practice stand,
the PikStation is a handy and sturdy fixture with an attached TriPik
head. The TriPik on this model is our standard variety, without
the tightening screws for each slot. Choose the optional upgrade
(model V4) if you wish to have these handy tigheners on your TriPik.
The rear storage bin is perfect to hold your favorite
pick set, and the front hinged bin is ideal for practice locks not
in use and for loose lock picks, tension tools, etc.
The TriPik and stand are PVC . . . light weight but

TriPik
Deluxe Model
|
For the budget minded, we offer the best of the TriPik
stands. This is the model V4 TriPik, which features threaded
adjusters in each of the three slots to assure your practice locks
are held firmly in place. Key in knob cylinders sometimes vary
slightly in overall diameter, and this feature removes the possibility
of having a loose practice lock wiggling around while you try to pick
it.
The center slot is widened at the front, which gives an
improved view of cut-away practice locks.
Made of light weight but incredibly durable PVC, this
stand can be used free-standing, or semi-permanently mounted to a
smooth surface with the supplied double-sided mounting squares.

Universal
Practice Lock Stand
|
This is the Universal Practice Lock Stand . . . essentially
the Universal Practice Lock Head on its own stand with a heavy duty
ball and socket joint attached . . . allowing unlimited positioning
of the practice locks you are working on.
The ball and socket joint can be firmly locked in any position
through 360-degrees, and can also be adjusted front to back.
The Universal Practice Lock Stand holds key in knob practice
locks, mortise cylinders, cut-away mortise cylinders, cut-away key
in knob practice locks, cam locks, mailbox locks, cut-away tubular locks,
plastic 'see through' practice locks and even padlock cylinders removed
from rekeyable type padlocks.
The handing of the Universal Practice Lock Stand is easily
changed, for occasions in which you are practicing on cut-away cylinders
and need to change handing. Just unscrew the 'head' unit from the
ball and socket joint and flip it over.
The Universal Practice Lock Stand is made of incredibly
strong nylon. You can run over it with a truck and it
won't hurt a thing but scuff up the paint . . . though
we wonder why you'd do that. The base is sturdy enough to sit
free-standing, made of solid aluminum.
This stand is perfect for the hobbyist or student locksmith
who intends to advance in the art of lock picking and will be practicing
on various types of lock cylinders.
