.: LOCK PICK SETS
We feature only the finest
lock picking tools on this web site, from SouthOrd and HPC -- from small
beginner's
sets such as the MPXS-08 to highly professional pick assortments
such as HPC's fine Pro-Mixer set.
Lock pick sets shown below are just a sampling of those currently
on offer from Lock Picker's Mall.
Beginners and pros alike will enjoy working with mid-priced sets
such as the MPXS-20, or HPC's NDPK. The
primary difference between SouthOrd tools and those offered by HPC
is that SouthOrd picks and tools
are made exclusively of stainless steel, while HPC offers mostly
spring steel kits. However, the HPC
NDPK-24 has a mix of stainless and spring steel tools.
Most of the lock pick sets by SouthOrd have rivet-less handles, whereas
HPC's handled picks are riveted and
are somewhat heavier overall. Locksmiths differ as to whether
handles help or hinder, and it will be ultimately
a matter of personal preference for you. Best bet is to purchase
something like SouthOrd's PXS-14 or the
similar PXS-14B (which comes with a handy and helpful lock picking
manual), because this set contains both
handled and non-handled picks.
A non-handled pick is simply a pick made from a single thin length
of stainless steel or spring steel, whereas
as 'handled' pick has an additional metal (or sometimes plastic)
piece on the end that is held by the technician.
Lock pick sets are, obviously, one of the most important accessories
in a Locksmith's tool box, so care should
be taken when choosing a set. You'll find an even larger selection
at Lock Picker's
Mall.
